Hercules stands out among other films within the same genre due to its depictions of the hero, the villain, and the "ideal" woman. Not only is the plot enjoyable and well developed, but the cinematography - particularly the animation, colors, and lighting - allows the film to clearly and uniquely express what it needs to. It's no secret that Disney is well known for creating beautifully animated movies. When it is comparable to films such as Gladiator, Quo Vadis, and Ben-Hur, it is able to set itself apart by the carefully articulated drawings. The film is a family classic and enjoyable in all stages of life for a reason; the well developed characters are able to tell an entertaining and heartwarming story and the cinematography is aesthetically pleasing and tells a story within itself.
